The article presents the results of a review of studies by domestic and foreign scientists regarding the work, calculation, and stress–strain state of timber structures under different types of loading. More detailed emphasis is placed on the study of dowelled joints of timber structures, for the further investigation of joints of the “timber–steel” type.
The analysis of studies of the last decades has shown that research on timber structures, their elements, and joints is developing quite actively. A large amount of experimental data has been accumulated, which can be used in the future in the development of new design standards or in the introduction of certain changes into them. This is due, in particular, to the fact that in the design standards the influence of repeated loading on the calculation of elements and joints of structural connections is absent, which, in turn, requires more thorough study and coverage of all structural elements and joints proposed for use in construction.
